Apple has released Logic Pro 12.2 for Mac and Logic Pro for iPad 3.2, introducing new Dolby Atmos export tools, a fresh UK garage-inspired sound pack, and performance improvements across both platforms.

Apple has updated its professional music production software with new features and content on both Mac and iPad.

The shared addition across both versions is Step Reflex: Modern Garage, a new sound pack inspired by UK garage music and designed for modern electronic production.

Logic Pro for Mac (Version 12.2)

On Mac, the most significant update is a new Spatial Audio export option for Dolby Atmos projects.

Apple says Logic Pro 12.2 can now export projects as:

  • MP4 files in Dolby Digital Plus with Dolby Atmos
  • Dolby AC-4 L4 formats

These compressed formats are designed to simulate how mixes will sound on streaming platforms.

According to Apple, the Music profile for Dolby Digital Plus with Dolby Atmos is optimized for Apple Music, offering a more accurate preview of how spatial audio mixes will be experienced by listeners.

This provides a lightweight, shareable way for producers to review and approve mixes before release.

Step Reflex: Modern Garage Sound Pack

A major addition in this update is the Step Reflex: Modern Garage sound pack.

Apple describes the pack as drawing from 1990s and early-2000s UK garage, featuring:

  • Two-step rhythms
  • Deep basslines
  • Synth textures
  • Vocal elements
  • Atmospheric layers

The pack is available through Logic Pro’s Sound Library and is designed for electronic and modern production workflows.

Restoring Legacy Sound Library Content

Apple has also addressed issues with older Sound Library content.

With Logic Pro 12.2, users can now:

  • Reinstall Logic 10 Legacy Patches
  • Restore missing instruments and loops
  • Recover older sound content after upgrading to Logic Pro 12.0

This ensures better continuity for long-time users working across multiple versions.

Logic Pro for iPad (Version 3.2)

On iPad, the Logic Pro for iPad 3.2 update focuses on new content and overall performance improvements.

The update includes:

  • The Step Reflex: Modern Garage sound pack
  • UK garage-inspired loops, instruments, and production elements

In addition, Apple notes that the update includes general stability improvements and bug fixes.

Differences Between Mac and iPad Versions

While both versions share the new sound pack, the feature sets are not identical.

  • The Mac version introduces Dolby Atmos export and spatial audio preview tools
  • The iPad version focuses on content additions and stability improvements

The iPad release does not include the new Dolby Atmos export functionality available on Mac.

The Bigger Picture

This update highlights Apple’s continued expansion of Logic Pro across platforms.

By adding modern sound packs, improving spatial audio workflows, and maintaining legacy compatibility, Apple is positioning Logic Pro as a flexible tool for both professional producers and mobile creators.

At the same time, the growing parity between Mac and iPad versions reflects Apple’s broader push toward a more unified creative ecosystem.
